An Ode to Plumes

We are thankful for so many things.  We are thankful for our health, we are thankful for our family, and we are thankful for our friends.  We are thankful for people enjoying the treasures we have found on our hunts.  And, when we sat down to talk about what we could post in Thanksgiving, so many things came to mind.  Many serious, and many just a bit cheeky and silly.  So, as a compromise, we decided to do a Post in honor of our feathered friends.  Birds, thank you for nourishing us this Thanksgiving and thank you for your beautiful Plumes!

Talk about being thankful!  How thankful are we for the wonderful women who make these Bamileke African Feather Headdresses?
We. Can't. Take. It.
We know these have been shown quite a bit but we just love them.  We've been remodeling a living room fireplace (reno post coming soon) and we think we are set on putting up a burnt orange one smack-dab in the middle of it!

This mysterious looking floor lamp made of black goose quill feathers is by Pluma Cubric. We see this adding an edgy vibe to an otherwise traditional sitting space. The white hanging version on the other hand is so romantic! How sweet would this be in a little girl's room or even in her mom's dressing space! By special order through mossonline.com

Funky salad servers. These beauties add a touch of softness to an otherwise modern dinner affair!

Feathers in Art!

Check out these images by London-based artist, Kate MccGuire.  She used bits of bones and pigeon feathers to create the subjects for these photos and installations.....

The sculptures are actually quite beautiful....

Feathers in Fashion!

Chanel (as usual) showed feathers in their Spring 2011, ready-to-wear show and then Kate Moss steps out in this feathered babydoll for Louis Vuitton Spring 2012!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  We are truly thankful to all of you who shop our store and read this blog.  Have a wonderfully blessed meal this afternoon!

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Shelves, Etageres and What-Nots

My name is Laura Giuliani and I am addicted to home accessories.  I have so many wonderful, beautiful and interesting things and the only problem is, I have no where to put them.  Thus, I've been searching, and searching, and searching for the perfect etagere/display shelf for months now.  I haven't found the perfect one for my space, but I've certainly found some AMAZING pieces!  Here are a few that I've obsessed over from low-end to high...

This powder coated steel etagere comes in three different sizes and ten, that's right ten, different color options.  How awesome is that?  They range in price from $339-$509 at Room and Board

Kansai Bookcase is made from iron and mango wood!
Cost $1,298 anthropologie.com

The Almidi etagere by Casamidy.  Wonderfully modern giving a nod to Moroccan architecture.  Wrought iron, made in Mexico.  It's available in custom paint colors (although I love the turquoise shown!). Measures 58"h x 33.5"w x 16" d  Cost, $1,400.

I love, love the John Reeves designed Aqueduct Bookcase from ABC Carpet & Home in NYC.  This has come closest to hitting the mark for me.  It's a black stained bookcase with brass interior lining and removable drawers and shelves.  Each unit is 29"w.x15"d.x86"h and costs $1795. The problem (for me) is that I would need three! (like the picture on the right)

Hand-carved fretwork of bleached teak, Kristin Buckingham's Laurent etagere may be used indoors and out.  94"h.x78"w.x22"d.  Now ready for the price?...$19,500!  Yikes!

As for me the search continues, I'll be sure to keep you "posted" on my discoveries! In the meantime, check out our shop for many unique and beautiful things for YOUR shelves!

Desert Road Trip....

One of my favorite things in the world to do is travel.  I love seeing different places and meeting new people.  And let's face it, I love to see what I can find along the way! I was fortunate enough to be able to drive through the California and Arizona deserts recently and came across these gems during my journey!
I hope you enjoy my desert finds!

Rose Bowl Mania!

What a fantastic November day here in Southern California!  Wow are we blessed!  The sun was out, a nice breeze in the air and a flea market filled with amazing energy and people!  To all of you who came by our booth today, thank you so much for your words of support and, of course, for your purchases.  Today was hands-down, our best day yet!  Here are a few pictures from our most recent flea market adventure!

(note: morrocan table, martini pitcher, pink tables, peacock and silver bowl no longer available.)

We loaded up our 14 foot U Haul last night!  Yikes!  We certainly shopped for finds this month!

(note: Chinese garden stool no longer available.)

We left our houses at 4:00 am and were set up (the first time) by 5:30.

(note: front 2 bells, aqua glasses and orange and brass
lidded compote no longer available.)

Yes, we rearranged our vignettes.  Who does that at flea markets?  We have interior styling obsession issues!

(note: chair, peacock and mirrored vanity tray no longer available.)

(note: chairs are no longer available)

(note: chairs and table are the only items still available)

Actually managed to get a pic with one of us in it, of course once no one was around.

We're already looking forward to next month & can't wait to see what we find until then!

Mark your calendars, next Rose Bowl Flea Market is December 11th. For details click here.

New Kid on the Blot...

When setting out to find the perfect logo to represent our new venture of vintage interiors, the search was over just shortly after it began. Our current obsession, which inspired our first collection, was an organic decision...the inkblot.
In love with it's endless possibilities of interpretation and it's timeless appeal (with just the right amount of edge), it could not be more appropriate. And so it was, G3Q Designs was born...our finds, your interpretation.
Ikat step aside, there's a new kid on the blot!

I love the way Christopher Crawford used this giant inkblot on canvas as the focal point of an otherwise minimalist room. The perfect mix with modern industrial interiors!

One of many to die for custom wallpapers by Eskayel!

If the wallpaper is too far out of your budget (custom wallpaper does not come cheap), they offer amazing housewares like these pillows!

Slightly more affordable versions available at Hettle.I'm DYING to get my DIY on for an even more custom version - no pun intended!

Love, love, love this mini dress from Australian designer Dion Lee's Spring '11 collection.

The Atomic Rorschach wicker chair. Available for sale at our Etsy store. An edgy twist on a traditional chair.
