Flea Market Finds

Happy Saturday!  A little early morning flea market inspiration!
For you all you parents out there with lego-loving children - you know what a score this is!!! My kids and nieces and nephews are going to freak!
These albums were stunning.  I'd say a major upgrade from the album on my iPhone.
I loved the carved detailing on these chairs.  I'd have to refinish but they sure are beauties!
These made the cut!  They have great lines, great solid brass/bronze accents and they are petite enough to fit in special places.
Wowza.  Anyone have an all white work space?  Ok, well, you need this desk and chair.
Yes please.  Normally I don't polish brass items but these bamboo trays look stunning all shined up!
Hey you glam-to-be bar cart!  I've purchased you before!
Here's what she looked like when I was done with her!

If you've never been to a flea market please go! You will be so thankful!  The fresh air, the interesting people, friendly vendors ~ are well worth the early morning drive!

Blessings,

Holy Brows Batgirl!

Eyebrows are one of the most import features on your face. They can give the illusion of youthfulness, confidence, and elegance. From the catwalk to the street, eye brows are becoming fuller, darker and a little overgrown, giving you a more avant-garde look for the fall and winter months.
The hot new trend is a cross between Liz Taylor’s, eyebrows (circa “Cleopatra”) and Brooke Shields’ brows (circa “Blue Lagoon”) resulting in modern day, fashion muse and model, Cara Delevingne.

I love this look because its easy to achieve, its far from drastic, it's not permanent and low maintenance!
What You'll Need:
~ eyebrow gel (see more below) &
~ eyebrow pencil/eyebrow powder/eyebrow pen (whichever you are comfortable with!) I love Chanel’s Crayon Sourcils, Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil! I have been faithful to this pencil since the dawn of my cosmetic counter life. Chanel’s pencil goes on smooth and conveniently has a spooley brush on the opposite end to blend and shape.
The {first} step is the easiest, put away your 20x magnifying mirror!
When you are grooming your brows that close, it’s hard to get the right perspective, which is when, mistakes happen. The {objective} is to tweeze the big stragglers above and below your brow and the hairs between your eyes. We want to achieve a more natural, fuller and youthful looking brow!

{Second}, get yourself a brow pencil, brow powder or brow pen, that is one shade darker than your natural brow color. The key is to have contrast between your brows and the hair color on your head. I chose the color, 30 Brun Naturel, which is a light brown (I am a dirty blonde, natural of course!)

Keep in mind if you love working with eyebrow powder, an eyebrow pen or what ever your hearts desire, please do so.

{Third} step: take your brow gel and shape and set the hair. I’m obsessed with Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel. Her spooley wand is easy to control, the colors are dimensional and it gives a good hold. I selected the color, Caramel (since, I am blonde). It looks beautiful against the brown and softens it a bit. It’s important to start off with a light hand to control the color and easy to add additional coats to achieve the desired look. The brow gel is also simple and perfect to wear alone for a day time, less dramatic look.

A little extra:
~ If you need a little help with filling and shaping your brows or a refresher crash course, here is a two minute tutorial by Anastasia, the eyebrow master of Beverly Hills.

~ If you have thin brows and need help filling them in while growing them out, here is a great two minute video by Anastasia Beverly Hills lead Makeup Artist, Andrew Velazquez.

Baubles and Bubbles

We will pretty much take any excuse to throw a party!  And when it involves good friends, delicious food, drinks and jewelry we're in!
Decor was kept simple for this jewelry party.  We used natural elements in artichokes, squash, and a few goards.  We added heaps of candles and bundles of babysbreath and the party prep was complete!

{An added bonus of using fruits or veggies in your decor is that you can send them home with your friends or use them for cooking yourself!}
Party Tip:  Do as much prep-work as you can before the day of the party.  Here I set up the gift table of candles the day before.

The Jewelry: Three separate lines: Bella Bloom, Brooks Originals, Jewelry by Veronique.  Baubles, baubles and more baubles!!! Once the jewels were set up I couldn't help but accent the table with some of our vintage finds!  I think it looked awesome!
The Food: Catered by Chef Simon was fantastic.  Everything from turkey burger sliders to miniature brie grilled cheese on rosemary bread with shots of tomato soup.  I ate, and ate, and ate!
The Sweets:  By Tickle Me Sweet.  Cheesecake bites, chocolate dipped strawberries, and brownie shots! Oh My!
Until the next party!

A Farewell to Marc {For Louis}

Last night was a sad night indeed.  Marc Jacobs had his final show, revealing his final line, for Louis Vuitton.
Jacobs who had been designing for the mega-Parisian label for 16 years has left to focus on his own monstrous line.

The mood was dark, the colors were dark, the props and displays were those used in his previous shows.  Perhaps a funeral of of sorts, putting those wondrous escalators and the magnificent carousal to rest.  The 16 purses {perhaps for his 16 years with the label} that came out the "runway" hardly stole the show.
Marc for Louis Vuitton, you will be missed!!!

DIY {Midcentury} Planter

Let's Get Started:
{What you'll need}
1. A vessel for planting (I'm using a midcentury webspun table without the glass top - G2 broke that)
2. Sheets of moss (I purchased mine at a craft store)
3. Thin plastic lining (a garbage bag will do!)
4. Gravel
5. Potting soil (Choose one that suits your plants!)
6. Your plants of course!
1. Create a moss lining on the bottom of the table
(You can see through my table. ~
If you can't see through yours you can skip this step.)
2. Line the moss with plastic then place gravel on the bottom for drainage.
3. Add your gravel just to the very base.
4. Add soil.
5. Place your plants creating any design you'd like.
I had to include the picture of my shadow Harley.  How cute is he just resting on the plants.  Oh love my first born.

Enjoy being outside!
Blessings,

Happy October {At Trader Joes!}

It's here!  It's here!  It's finally October!  We so look forward to this day in my house!  Putting up our new calendar and knowing that on the very last day of it we will enjoy a night with our friends where our imaginations can run wild!
{Calendar from Smashing Magazine}
There are so many things to love about fall but one of my most favorite is all of the delicious pumpkin products put out by Trader Joes!  Here is a preview of just some of them!!!
1. These pumpkin bars are 100% treats.  My kids could gobble them up in one sitting!
2. The Country Pumpkin Spice Granola is awesome.  It is crunchy and the perfect topping over TJs vanilla yogurt.
3. Organic Frosted Toaster Pastries - another sweet snack for the kids.  I cut them into "sticks" for them to dip into cottage cheese with cinnamon on top (sounds weird but is so good and some hidden protein!)
4. Harvest Blend Herbal Tea - It's caffeine free and is the perfect night cap!
So I am not going to pretend that I have a healthy way to serve any of these!  They are just simply fantastic on their own!
1. Pumpkin butter - I pair this with the homemade pumpkin bars or bread (see our pumpkin ball recipe here!)
2. Pumpkin Macarons
3. Mini Pumpkin Pies {I mean!  Keeps no. 2-3 in the freezer to serve when you have friends come over last minute.  They are adorable and yummy!}
4. Pumpkin Ice Cream.  Garnish with graham cracker crumbles.  Wowza.
1. Pecan Pumpkin Oatmeal.  Such a yummy way to start the day!
2. Organic Pumpkin ~ Stock up.
It's a stable for soups, bars, cocktails and pies!
3. Pumpkin Bar Baking Mix ~ I haven't tried these yet but
I'm looking forward to it.
4. Pumpkin Croissants ~ These are heaven.

Happy October Everyone!!!
