Mike Stilkey, Take me Away!

I have found, that whenever I really truly fall for something and feel a genuine connection to a piece, it is absolutely always characterized by a spirit of whim mixed with imperfections from age. Never would I have thought I would find a modern day piece of art that embodies this, nor an artist who's entire collection captures my heart.
Mike Stilkey is a young and talented artist who's pieces are full of imagination and quirk, with animals often cast as the lead role. He has a catalog of paintings although he is best known for his book sculptures. Yes, he paints on the bindings of old books! Be still my heart!

'Kangaroo'

'Man Embarrassed by Dogs’ Hat Choice'

'Elephant Relaxing'

'Heavy Weights'

These next two paintings are in my personal collection, we are five paintings and two book sculptures deep!

'Blue Horses'

'Gathering Cats'

My favorite piece, sitting above my desk!

I had to restrain myself from posting his entire collection! For more on his art and where you can view it visit his website at www.MikeStilkey.com

He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
