Garden {Stool} Party

It's rare that we have so many beautiful vintage garden stools at one time.   Heck, it's never happened.
So, to honor these storied beauties, we threw a party!
Each has a history, each has some mystery.
This tasseled treasure came from Italy to the US in 1952...

Ernest Elephant? He's as solid as a rock.  I imagine he lounged in Palm Beach for a few decades before migrating West.
My yellow Love came over on the boat from Italy with her blue brother.
And orange modern? Well, that's my secret!

The glazed terracotta camel garden stool & seat is a rare piece also making her way from Italy in the 1950s. She loves a good drink on her back.
Sister Snail is actually a twin.  Shh, don't tell!

All of the vintage stunners are available for sale through us, or if you're willing to wait, our One Kings Lane store.  We hope they bring you some history and mystery in the future!

Blessings,

Pumpkin Cake Cake Balls

Pumpkin Bars turned Pumpkin Balls.
Insane.
I can't even stand it.  As if the pumpkin bars weren't amazing enough I had to turn them into balls.  With white chocolate drizzle.  And sprinkles.  Seriously, I should have started a blog on fitness!!!  Anyway, anyway I digress.  These are fantastic.  A bit more fancy for holiday parties and just please make them!!!
How To:
{I've long been using Paula Dean's recipie for her pumpkin bars
and cream cheese frosting.  It is fantastic.
However, you could also use any store bought cake or frosting.}
1. Crumble your pumpkin cake
2. Add 2/3 cup of your frosting & mix together
3. Scoop out golf ball size balls of mixture (I use a melon baller)
4. Melt white chocolate, place into a ziplock bag
5. Cut a small corner off the ziplock and drizzle chocolate over cake balls
6. Add sprinkles if you'd like!
These taste great and they freeze really well! I froze some of the balls without the drizzle and sprinkles and placed them in a freezer bag and flat on a cookie sheet in the freezer.
Make em, decorate em, eat em!

DIY: TeePee

So. Much. Fun!!!!
Our afternoon Indian Summer campout
was such a blast!
In a few short steps you can make a
teepee of your own!
These teepees really are DIY, no tools, not much money and very little time.  Perfect for play!
1. Fabric {we used a rad leopard print sheet!}
2. Adhesive {we used flower tape because we had it}
*You could also use electrical tape or even an elastic!
3. Teepee rods {we used long sticks of bamboo
that I purchased at a craft store}
4. Something to wrap around your rods and fabric {we used raffia}
How To:
~ Bunch your 4 rods together
~ Wrap your not-too-sticky, not-too-tight, adhesive around them
~ Spread 'em out - onto the ground to make your teepee frame
~ Wrap your fabric/sheet around the adhesive
~ Tie your raffia or rope around the fabric to secure it onto the sticks
DONE!

{Note: You could also punch holes in the fabric to tie to the side poles}

This project shouldn't take you more than 10-15 minutes and can be done with things you have at home!

Get cozy and enjoy your weekend!

G3: Indian Summer

The days of summer are behind us.  A cool breeze in the evening air.  Ahead: perfect nights to make a teepee, eat apples and S'mores, read a few books, and to just be silly.
We carved this tree stump for one of our birthday parties and it makes an awesome addition to our yard!
Tomorrow we'll show you how we made our DIY tent/teepee!
This just melts my heart.  It wasn't too long ago that they were swaddled
up in a crib together.
DIY: we used pillowcases as our sleeping bags! (Yep, we live in LA!)
Look for S'more Kabob recipe here!
~
And now for a close-up of the GCrew!
My Name is Gavin.  I'm the oldest. Some people call me G1.
{Dear God, Thank you for this S'more. Amen}
I might look like a 90's grunge singer but my name is Grayer, G2.
{Ok, Ok, I'm a bit wild!}
And, I'm Gia the not-so-baby girl. G3.
{Very Sweet Right?}
Our day under the trees and in the teepee was a blast! We'd love to see pictures of you creating your own camp-out too!

S'more Kabobs

Getting ready for a cozy camping trip?
Just love the colors and smells of fall?
I love marshmallows. I love serving food on sticks.
I love this cool, easy idea for S'more Kabobs!
In just a few steps you have dressed up S'more kabobs.
{Five Step Smores}
1. Put your favorite marshmallows on a dessert stick (I used 3)
2. Put your favorite graham's in a baggie and bash 'em
(put on a flat plate and set aside)
3. Melt your favorite chocolate on a flat plate (I used dark, yum!)
4. Roll your skewered mallows into the chocolate
5. Roll said skewers into mashed grahams

(you may want to refrigerate skewers before dressing the sticks!)
{Five Step Stick Dress}
1. Pick any paper or tissue (I used a paper bag here)
2. Cut fringe into the paper leaving about 1/4 inch uncut at top
3. Place a little glue on dessert stick
4. Roll your paper around stick
5. Add another dab of glue - repeat on other side!
There you have it.  Get snuggly in that tent with your favorite book and a plate-free s'more kabob!
Enjoy!
